I love my job for so many reasons, but the part I enjoy the most is having the opportunity to help patients of all ages, ethnicities, genders, and backgrounds with their skin problems. As a dermatologist, I treat a wide variety of skin, hair and nail conditions. Many of these diseases can be very uncomfortable, unsightly, or debilitating, and having the ability to diagnose/treat them is incredibly rewarding. Whether it's managing a young child's eczema, treating a teenagers cystic acne, or removing a skin cancer on an older patient, I am incredibly blessed to be able to help patients in all stages of life. My absolute favorite part of the job is seeing my follow up patients after their conditions have resolved, and the positive impact this has had on their lives.

As a new member of the chamber, I am excited to take advantage of all the benefits of membership. I plan on attending the new member luncheon in a couple weeks to network with other members.

Success to me is all about patient satisfaction. If I can fix someone's skin condition and improve their quality of life in any way possible, that is the greatest accomplishment I can achieve. Although my practice is only 1 year old and my patient base is still very small, most of my patients are very happy with their care, and I have grown primarily by word-of-mouth. Whenever a patient refers a friend, family member, or coworker to my practice, I feel successful. My patients have also been kind enough to leave me 61 5-star Google reviews, and it always warms my heart to read their comments.

Marketing is a challenging area for me as I am not great with self-promotion. However, my wonderful employees have helped significantly in this area.

My practice is truly unique in that it is the only direct care dermatology practice in Southeastern PA. Direct care is a newer concept in the field of medicine, but it is growing due to the many benefits it offers. Unlike a traditional practice, we do not participate with any insurances. This allows us to bypass much of the overhead associated with accepting insurance and focus our attention primarily on patient care. Here are just a few of the many benefits of direct care: same-day or next-day appointments, no waiting (our patients are brought right back and seen on time), extended face-to-face time with physician (5-10x longer visits than in a traditional insurance-based setting), prescription medications on-site, online appointment booking, ability to text with physician, after hours accessibility, and no bills after appointment. Best of all, direct care is affordable! Many patients do not realize that even with insurance, they may have several out-of-pocket costs such as copays, deductibles, and prescription medication costs that can add up. The best advice I can give to a young medical professional is to think outside the box. The healthcare system is not always set up with the best interests of patients in mind, and in order to overcome some of these barriers, you sometimes need to come up with creative solutions. Most importantly, you should always keep in mind why you entered this field - for most of us, it was the desire to help people. If the current healthcare system is not allowing that to happen, don't be afraid to build your own organization to better serve your patients.

I am an avid gardener with an interest in food-scaping and sustainable living. I grow much of my own food and love to be out in nature. I also love to cook.
