(Exton, PA) August 2021 -- The Exton Region Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce the winners of their 2021 Annual Dinner Awards presented by Miller’s Insurance Inc. Recipients of the awards will be recognized for their positive impact on the region and their dedication to fostering a climate of economic prosperity and diversity.
The Harold Martin Leadership Award, intended to recognize a person from the Exton Region who has achieved a significant and acknowledged level of success in their career and who has demonstrated leadership and a long-standing, unselfish commitment to improving the quality of life in the Exton Region, will be awarded to Charles Waterman of Closets by Design, SEPA/DE.
Charles Waterman founded Closets by Design of SE PA & DE in 2004 with a vision and a handful of employees. Following his mantra “It’s not about the physical product - it’s about people: team members and customers”, Charles and his dedicated staff have grown the business to over 100 employees serving the custom storage needs of Southeastern PA and Delaware. The company strives to delight its clients by helping them become more organized in their daily lives. As a result of making their homes more beautiful, organized and efficient, families have more time to do what’s important to them. Recently, to accommodate the growth of the business, Closets by Design built and moved into a 60,000 square foot office and manufacturing facility in Frazer, PA.
Prior to Closets by Design, Charles began a CertaPro Painters Franchise in Dallas, TX and later came to Pennsylvania to serve as General Manager and Director of Training for the Franchisor, First Service Corporation.
He holds a B.S. Degree in Industrial Engineering from Buffalo State University and has worked in process and product improvement in both the Defense and Semi-conductor Industries. While at Texas Instruments, he achieved the status of Six Sigma Black Belt. In his spare time he practices martial arts, plays guitar and sings in a classic rock band and enjoys restoring classic motorcycles. He is currently working with other area business owners to host the first annual Cars for Charity Car Show benefitting Handi Crafters and the Main Line Run for First Responders.
The Small Businessperson of the Year Award, intended to help recognize the important contributions of small businesses to the economy and overall vitality of the Exton Region, will be given to Jeremy Mueller of Electrical Plus for his contribution to the economy and vitality of the region.
Jeremy was born a raised in Minnesota and grew up working on a family farm. After leaving MN to join the United States Navy and serving on ships around the world he moved to PA where he met his wife. Jeremy and his wife, Joanne are proud parents of 3 children including twins
After his career in the Navy, he began work as an electrician while working a second job and studying for his Electricians certifications and license.
In 2006 Jeremy began Electrical Plus and has worked for the past 15+ years to grow the company into what it is today. Electrical Plus serves Chester, Montgomery, Berks and Bucks Counties. While proud of the business growth over the years, the goal is always to provide the best possible opportunities for his employees who he considers to be and extension of his family. The 1st goal is always the Team.
Jeremy is committed to the local community as well, having served on Boards, including the ERCC, and currently with North Star of Chester County. Electrical Plus continues to support many local Non-Profits as well as Charities outside of PA.
The 2021 Annual Dinner will take place on September 23rd at the Loch Aerie Mansion, beginning at 5:00 PM. Dinner will be provided by John Serock Catering. The theme of the program is Progress and Preservation, featuring the host of the DIY Network “Stone House Revival”, Jeff Devlin. Jeff, the owner of Schoolhouse woodworking and board member of the Valley Forge Park Alliance, will provide a unique insight into preservation in progress, especially how it relates to the Exton Business Community.
Guests will have the opportunity to explore history of Loch Aerie Mansion and it’s preservation during the cocktail reception. There will be a Silent Auction including a handcrafted table made for the event by Jeff Devlin. Some of the proceeds of the evening will be presented to the Valley Forge Park Alliance on behalf of Jeff Devlin.
