The Chester County Workforce Development Board is a county-appointed group of people responsible for overseeing programs that develop and upskill the workforce to meet the needs of employers, consistent with Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) requirements, statewide goals, and regional priorities.
Inviting local employers to serve on the County’s Workforce Development Board is necessary to represent the needs of other employers and to help ensure workforce development programs are well suited to match the needs of employers.
By participating, you are providing an excellent opportunity for the local business community to be heard on issues that matter as they do their best to add and retain talent.
The board is comprised of government-mandated board seats to represent many perspectives in the workforce community. For the current vacancies, here are the requirements for interested individuals:
- Must have policy making authority within their own organization (an owner, C-level executive, etc.)
- Must commit to attend bi-monthly 1.5 hour board meeting (in Exton with virtual option)
- Must commit to a 4-year term (it goes by quickly)
- Must own or be currently employed by a small business, as defined by the U.S. Small Business Administration (independently owned and operated with generally under 500 employees)
- The business must have its headquarters or some physical presence in Chester County
- A chamber should be willing to write a letter of recommendation or endorsement for the business or individual to serve on the board
