The in-person competition will welcome students after going virtual for 2 years.
West Chester, PA. Chester County History Center (CCHC) will welcome 150+ students from Chester and Delaware County to the National History Day competition on April 1 & 2, 2022. This year’s competition, the first in-person after 2 years of virtual competitions, is centered on the theme of Debate & Diplomacy in History –successes, failures, consequences. Students 6th-12th grade will present their research to a panel of 40 volunteer judges who will evaluate the works. Winners at the regional level advance to the state competition and the state winners represent Pennsylvania at the National History Day contest in College Park, MD in June.
In light of 33 years of National History Day and the participation of more than 9,000, Conor Hepp, President of Chester County History Center expresses his enthusiasm for the event: “National History Day is important because it engages and inspires students through the purest of human expressions, their passions. Whether it be through film, design, or writing, students have the opportunity to tell the stories of our shared past while gaining critical skills that will help them in their future success.”
After 2 years of virtual event, students, parents, community, and CCHC staff are thrilled to welcome participants to an in-person competition and award ceremony. The 2 day event is possible thanks to the support of Corporate Partners through the EITC program, and individual donors.
