A collaboration brew from Suburban Brewing Co. and Deer Creek Malthouse in
anticipation of Good Food Fest
The 2nd Annual Good Food Fest returns this fall on Sunday, November 6th from 11am-4pm at the
Kimberton Fairgrounds. This one-day event will celebrate, educate, and promote regional agriculture and
the vibrant local community of growers, producers, and makers. To kick off the celebration, event
organizer Growing Roots Partners commissioned the brewing of a special beer from Suburban Brewing
Co. and Deer Creek Malthouse to commemorate the occasion – made with 100% local ingredients, of
course. Enter: Husks & Hops – a local lager.
Husks & Hops is a light to medium body domestic lager that pours with a deep golden color and a bright
white head. There’s a sweet aroma from the blue corn along with a touch of spiciness from the Triple
Pearl hops. First taste lends a balanced sweetness that quickly fades into a bread crust malty flavor which
lingers on the taste buds. This local lager finishes dry, but with a delicious, sweet aftertaste that leaves
you wanting another sip. Best of all, this beer supports PA agriculture and is brewed with all local
ingredients.
This limited release beer is available beginning Thursday, September 8th, kicking off with a release party
at Suburban Restaurant & Beer Garden in Eagleview Town Center (Exton) from 6-8pm. Locavores and
beer lovers can enjoy free appetizers with purchase of the Husks & Hops beer ($5 draft for the occasion)
or Good Food Fest tickets (also $5 currently). Chef Eric Yost of Suburban will feature a special menu
highlighting local ingredients from farmers that you can find set-up just steps from their front door every
Thursday at the weekly Eagleview farmers market or at Good Food Fest on 11/6/22.
Husks & Hops will be available for purchase at Suburban Restaurant & Beer Garden in Exton, Suburban
Brewing Co. in Honey Brook, Bottle Room in Downingtown, multiple farmers markets in Philly + suburbs
via Deer Creek Malthouse, and Good Food Fest in Kimberton. Suburban Brewing Co. will also “pop-up” to
sell cans and sample the beer at Kimberton Whole Foods in Downingtown (11am-1pm) and Kimberton
(2-4pm) on Saturday, September 10th.
