Harrisburg, Pa., (September 1, 2021) – Mid Penn Bank (Bank), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mid Penn Bancorp, Inc., has partnered with LIFE Geisinger Schuylkill in support of improving the health and well-being of older adults in Schuylkill County. Over the course of two years, Mid Penn Bank has contributed a total of $1 million in support to the LIFE Geisinger Miners Loft project in Minersville, PA. The contribution was made possible through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s (DCED) Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP).

“It is part of Mid Penn Bank’s mission as a community bank to consistently support each of the communities in which we operate with loans, employee volunteerism and investment dollars,” said Mid Penn Bank President & CEO Rory G. Ritrievi. “When we invest, we do so in projects that support certain segments of the population that need it most. With the Miners Loft Project, we had the opportunity to support the revitalization of a historic Schuylkill County property and provide vital affordable housing and senior care to the 55+ community.” Ritrievi continued, “Mid Penn Bank is committed to supporting programs like LIFE Geisinger that directly and positively impact the communities we serve, and it was our pleasure to do so here with Miners Loft.”

LIFE Geisinger provides comprehensive health and medical care to adults aged 55 and older who would otherwise be confined to a nursing home as well as a full range of daily activities to enhance participants’ quality of life.

“With their contribution, Mid Penn Bank invested in improving the health of seniors in the community,” said Dr. Richard Martin, LIFE Geisinger medical director. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with Mid Penn Bank.”

The new facility occupies the 11,750-square-foot second floor of Miners Lofts at 2 Lewis St. and includes primary care services with full exam rooms, recreational space, rehabilitation gym, bathing facilities, laundry room and serving kitchen. The top three floors of the Miners Lofts building consist of 30 units of affordable housing for seniors.

The Neighborhood Assistance Program is a tax credit program to encourage businesses to invest in projects which improve distressed areas. Including NAP contributions, Mid Penn Bank and its subsidiaries contribute more than $1.5 MM annually to non-profits and community organizations through its various charitable giving initiatives.
