What do you enjoy most about your job or business industry?

I like helping people. Insurance is complex, but it's important. I make sure my clients are covered, they understand what they've got, and they know I'm only a phone call away.

In what ways has your chamber membership benefited you and/or your business?

I "visited" several local chambers and other professional organizations because I was looking for the right fit. From the leadership, to the people I've met, the friends and connections I've made, the ERCC is special. Sure, we're all promoting our businesses, but the priorities here are different - people come first. Everyone is more than happy to help and support one another.

How do you define success?

Working hard and knowing I was able to help a client out. When I'm not working, my wife and I are having a good time: travelling, hanging with friends/family, golfing, trying cool new stuff. My definition of success is leaving a situation in a better place than I found it.

What business challenges do you face and how do you overcome them?

Growing the business is a constant challenge. Finding creative ways to let people know I'm here, what I offer, and what I can do to help. I'm in this for the long haul, so my focus is on building strong relationships with referral partners and following through. I believe that if you deliver a great client experience, work with integrity, and treat everyone professionally, word will spread and growth will come.

What are your customers saying about you? What keeps them coming back?

My clients love the fact that I've got 40 different carriers I work with, and because I'm a broker I'm not beholden to any one specific company. So if premiums go up or there are other issues, I can pop them in with another carrier and still remain their agent. The most recent thing a client has said about me? "Whoa! I can't believe you called me back on a Saturday afternoon?!"

What advice would you give a young professional starting out in their career?

Don't sacrifice your integrity for the quick sale. People that take shortcuts and are only in it for themselves quickly develop a reputation. If you work hard and do it the right way, and do it consistently over time, you'll get to wherever you want to go.

What’s something about you that most people may not know (favorite band, favorite food, childhood memory, etc.)?

I've spent over 20 years chasing waves: highlights include Hawaii, Barbados, US/British Virgin Islands, and South America. But nothing beats a solid 3 foot wave off the jetty in Strathmere, NJ.
