WEST CHESTER, PA (August 22, 2024) – The Crime Victims’ Center of Chester County, Inc. (CVC) helped almost 60 of its school aged clients get ready for the new school year by going “Back to School with CVC” on Saturday, August 10th. Backpacks, rulers, notebooks, and other school supplies were generously donated by community partners to help area kids start the school year on a positive note. This is an annual event offered to current and former CVC clients.
The event is sponsored each year by Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union and supported by The Independence Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators, Senator Carolyn Comitta’s Office, and Gawthrop Greenwood. Each of the organizations holds a school supply drive with donations from individuals, area firms and businesses.
“Every child deserves to start the school year with the supplies they need for a successful year of learning and growth,” said State Senator Carolyn Comitta, a member of the Senate Education Committee. “I was glad to help collect backpack donations for the clients of the Crime Victims Center. I am so grateful to CVC for organizing this Back-to-School Drive and for their important work all year long to support families in our community.”
CVC was also joined this year by Soyica White, the #barberguy, who generously donated his time and talent to provide free haircuts to send the students and even one parent back to school in style. One of CVC’s families was headed to the barber shop after their shopping and they were very excited and grateful for the free haircut.
Carol Amplo, Relationship Manager at Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union shared that “FMFCU is honored to partner with CVC for their Back to School Event each year. Starting off the school year prepared and with confidence is important for every child. CVC makes such an impact for their clients and I was fortunate to be able to help with their Back to School shopping experience. They are set for a great start to the school year!”
Through the generosity of their supporters, CVC was able to donate the extra backpacks and supplies to Chester County Children, Youth, and Families and the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County.
