Exton, PA- January 2023: The Exton Region Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce the winner of the 2022 Senator Robert J. Thompson Public Service Award. Chester County Commissioner Michelle Kichline, who served as a Chester County Commissioner since 2014 will be recognized as the public official who has made an outstanding contribution to the Exton Region. Michelle’s entire career has been devoted to Public Service and serving the community, and its residents, to make it a better place for everyone. Her involvement with, and support of important planning initiatives such as Landscapes3, Chester County’s Comprehensive Plan, and VISTA 2025, as the co-chair of the County’s economic development strategy; in addition to programs that enhance transportation options, preserve open space, and expand the County’s parks and trails, have been admirable. Michelle has also led the charge in Chester County’s program to raise awareness of, and provide solutions to, the opioid crisis. She initiated the now annual Chester County Color 5K to raise funds that benefit victims of opioid addiction, educate first responders, hospital staff, and families about addiction, and create the successful COPE Program that transitions those who have experienced an overdose directly from the hospital emergency room to treatment. Under her leadership, the Color 5K has raised more than $200,000 for the COPE Program. Michelle also led the County’s efforts in a lawsuit against opioid manufacturers, and because of those efforts, Chester County was awarded nearly $20 million in opioid settlement funds as part of a nationwide settlement. As County Commissioner, Michelle Kichline has made it her priority to maintain and reinforce Chester County’s position as one of the best places to live, work, raise a family and retire. Her efforts and achievements certainly reflect this.

The award will be given out at the Exton Region Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Review Luncheon on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at The Desmond Hotel, 1 Liberty Boulevard in Malvern, PA, from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm.
