Head in any direction from the center of Exton and you’ll find newly developed residential communities and office and business parks on what used to be pastures and farm fields. The Exton Region is growing rapidly, but open space remains in county and township parks, in land set aside and preserved as an agricultural Conservation Easement, and in open space land reserved for parks and recreation.
Commercial / Mixed-Use
One of the largest developers of mixed-use communities is The Hankin Group, which has developed two impressive, large properties in the Exton Region – Eagleview and Weatherstone.
Eagleview in Uwchlan Township started out as a corporate park but grew into a mixed-use community when additional acreage became available. Now at 800 acres, the community fosters an intimate, village-like atmosphere including a town center with a large common area. Eagleview offers retail and professional offices, an apartment building for seniors, a variety of housing options and a YMCA.
Weatherstone designed with a village arrangement of residential, retail and office buildings in a compact setting which permits a substantial amount of the 300-acre site to remain as open space. This planned community consists of 240,000 sq. ft. of combined office and retails space and 273 single family and townhouse residences. It also has its own branch of the Chester County Library System.
Intermingled with the office parks and residential developments are numerous retail and service outlets. Two large shopping malls – Exton Square and Main Street at Exton – are conveniently located in the heart of the Exton Region. Numerous other free-standing retail stores and shopping centers are located along Routes 100 and 30.
